Are you looking to get more involved with the Board?

We open up Board of Director applications from December-January. A limited number of Director spots are available annually, and anyone between the ages of 21-34 is welcome to apply. Director applications are voted upon by the Executive Board and are chosen based on relevant experience, level of commitment and time available to dedicate to the organization. Volunteering on the Board of Directors is a great way to give back to the community, meet new people and of course, have fun! We encourage those wishing to apply to get involved as a volunteer at some of our events before they apply, as a way to get involved and learn about our organization from the inside.

New board members are chosen in January. If you are interested in applying for the board look for applications December of 2009. Applications are due back by January 31st 2009. Your application must be endorsed by 3 current or past Directors. If you do not know anyone who currently serves or has served on the board, please send us an email at info@youngirish.com before you send in your application.

Time committment for Directors is 4-6 hours minimum per month. Obligations include:

• monthly board meetings (at 6pm on the last Thursday of every month, downtown Chicago)
• attending and planning YIFC events (minimum 1 event per month)
• preparing for and working at our largest annual fundraiser, Forever Green (Friday before St. Patrick’s Day).

Applications are voted upon at the end of January/beginning of February and your one-year term begins on March 17. Board members must apply to renew their positions annually.

  Event management
• Fundraising
• Charitable/Non-Profit organizations
• Marketing/Public Relations
• Graphic Design and Web Design/Development
• Sponsorship
• Finances

NOTE: if you do not know 3 current or past Directors to endorse your application, you may still apply, but please let us know.

If you would like to get involved with YIFC but not as a director, you can volunteer at several of our events throughout the year, including Forever Green. This is a good way to learn about Young Irish operations and get to know some of the Board Members. If you wish to volunteer, please let us know.
